Founded in 1867, Morgan State University is designated by the legislature as the State of Maryland's public urban doctoral granting university. With a curriculum focused on the social, political and economic characteristics of urban areas, the university employs a wide range of approaches to deliver a superior, comprehensive education to traditional and non-traditional students alike. The Clarence M. Mitchel, Jr. School of Engineering at Morgan is housed in a two-building,140,000 square-foot complex. The complex is outfitted with state-of-the-art instructional and research laboratories, multimedia instructional classrooms, a modern broadband fiber-based computer network, and is completely wireless accessible. With a growing number of doctoral programs, Morgan's research is directed at urban life and its associated phenomena.
