Division Vice President,
Corporate Engineering – Global Engineering Services (GES)

Luis Diaz has been named Division Vice President, Corporate Engineering, Global Engineering Services.  He was appointed to his current position in January 2015.  Corporate Engineering is responsible for Global Project Management, Facilities Planning, Engineering Operations, Global Capital Planning & Sustainability, Engineering Communication and Engineering Global Citizenship. 

During his 19 year career, he has worked within the pharmaceutical, medical device and consumer products industries with increased leadership responsibilities as Manufacturing Engineering Manager, New Product Development Manager, R&D Manager, World-Wide Engineering Director, Operations Director/Plant Manager and Technical Operations Sr. Director.  Areas of responsibilities during his career has been in project management, new product development/introductions/transfers, research and development, manufacturing engineering, plant management/operations, facilities & utilities, process technology development and compliance. Luis holds four medical device patents and is a Process Excellence Black Belt.  

Luis has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Puerto Rico, Mayaguez; Master Degree courses in Manufacturing and Engineering from Western Michigan University; and, an Executive MBA from Florida International University.

Luis is the chairperson of the Abbott Engineering Executive Council (EEC), a member of the Global Operations Council (GOC), and will actively support  Abbott's Operations Leadership Program (OLP).
